The prestigious Chatsworth estate for the third year running plays host to the Chatsworth 10k for Helen’s Trust. The 2010 race is set to build on the success of previous years with a refreshed circular course taking in the fantastic views the Chatsworth estate has to offer.

Spinning is one of the gym’s most effective ways to burn calories in a short space of time. So if your looking to drop a dress size or a inch or so in time for your Christmas party it’s a great class to take.

On the noticeboard outside the studio I spin at the other day I noticed a challenge sheet, it’s something my gym tries to do every few months to make working out a little more fun.

They were writing up on the board what calories the instructor had burned in each class based on the readings from their heart rate monitor watches. And if you were a HRM (I don’t normally do) you can put up your calorie burn and if you do the best you spin some kind of prize.
A great little idea and got me wondering if there were any other kinds of spinning competitions out there, not because I think I’d be some kind of spinning champion but because I know when training for running a little bit of competition can be a great motivational tool. (more…)

If you’re a regular here you’ll know I got into spinning because I’m a cyclist who’s scared of the rain! Of course I ended up getting addicted…

Though on the occasional day of sunshine I wonder if I would be better off dusting off my normal bike and going for a ride rather than hitting the mirrors and fluorescent lights of the gym. So I made myself the following list of reasons why I’m better of going for a spin class.
