Want to get out there and get some miles of tarmac under your wheels or upgrade your old bike to something more lightweight? We’ve gone some of the best road racing bikes for under a thousand pound below.

For a grand you get a lot of bike for your money, groupset wise you are looking at Shimano 105 or maybe Ultegra and Campags equivalent groupsets.

In terms of frame you might get full carbon, but more likely a carbon/aluminium mix, or more old school (and probably more reliable) full alloy or steel. But 1k gets you a lot of bike what ever it’s made of.
